MS black bottom pie.png

Mississippi Black Bottom Pie

The pie, offered by Burt Caldwell, is very similar to the one pictured here. The original recipe was a specialty of a restaurant in Meridian, Mississippi which went out of business several years ago. Burt’s family was able to obtain this recipe, and to their knowledge, they are the only ones who currently make this pie on a regular basis.

From the picture, it obviously has chocolate, custard, and whipped cream. It also has a few other ingredients known only to our family.

Just a note: it has a touch of a select alcohol added for flavor, and the whipped cream does not come from an aerosol can.

After the high bidder and Burt agree on a date, Burt will prepare this pie fresh the evening before it is to be served – it needs to chill in the fridge overnight.

Key Lime Pie

Key Lime Pie is an American classic with just the right amount of zing --  just like the longtime Carol’s List supporter (and co-founder) who will make this pie for you if you have the winning bid: Sen. Diane Sands.

Pie of the Month Club! Theresa Cox is offering one pie per month for SIX months to the highest bidder.

Impossible Pecan Pie

Greg Patent will make the highest bidder a pecan pie from Stella Parks's unpublished recipe. Her terrific book, "Bravetart," came out a few years ago, and her testers had an 80 percent failure rate with her pecan pie recipe, so she decided not to publish it. However, the internet being what it is, revealed the recipe!

Greg has made it, and it’s very tricky, but the reason it's special is that the pecans don't just float on top, they get incorporated throughout the pie.

Greg Patent is a James Beard Award-winning cookbook author, and his work is available at https://thebakingwizard.com/.

Big Lemon Icebox Pie

Marianne Forrest will make the highest bidder this luscious, lemony, classic Southern dessert. She and the winner can decide on delivery and location in Missoula.
